Walking On Water

The Great Britain has got a lot of seaside resorts. Stretched elegantly out to sea, pleasure piers are the ironic structures of Britain's coast. They began life in the eighteenth century as landing stage for boats. They were built by Victorian ingeneers made up in cast-iron with enormous music halls and pavillions on it. There were over 100 piers in the nineteenth century, today only a half survived. They actract tourists and give jobs to the unemployed in resorts.
